Dr. Veerinderjeet Singh
Senior Adviser on Tax Policy of KPMG Malaysia
Dr Veerinderjeet is a Past President of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (2020–2022), the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (2019–2022), and the Chartered Tax Institute of Malaysia (2007–2010), having led all the major Malaysian accountancy and tax professional bodies. He is currently Chair of the Ethics Standards Board and a member/past Chairman of the Tax Practice Committee of MIA, and a Council member of MICPA.
Recognized as a leading expert in accountancy and taxation, he has over 40 years of experience across accounting, taxation, and commerce. He has authored several influential tax publications. His career includes roles at the Inland Revenue Department, University of Malaya (Associate Professor in Taxation), Arthur Andersen, and Ernst & Young (Tax Partner/Executive Director). He has also been a visiting Associate Professor at the University of Newcastle (Australia) and a Visiting Scholar at Harvard University. In 2005, he established his own tax advisory practice, which was listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange in 2015 and later sold to Tricor Group in 2020. He then served as Non-Executive Chairman of Tricor Services (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (2020–2024). He joined KPMG as Senior Adviser on Tax Policy in March 2024.
Since 2014, he has held Board roles including at Malaysian Rating Corporation Berhad and AmBank (M) Berhad (Chair of Audit Committee). In 2024, he was appointed as an Independent Non-Executive Director at Zico Holdings Inc and Mesiniaga Bhd. He was previously a Board member and Senior Independent Director at UMW Holdings Berhad until February 2024. He is also an Adjunct Professor at Monash University Malaysia and Past Chair of the Monash Business School Industry Advisory Board.
Internationally, he is Vice Chair of the Global Tax Commission of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), Paris, and was a Trustee of the International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation, Amsterdam, until December 2024.
He served on Malaysia’s Tax Reform Committee (2018–2020), is Past Chair of IFA Malaysia, a member of the IFA Asia Pacific Committee, and Vice President of the Malaysian Economics Association. He is also a Non-Resident Fellow at the Malaysian Institute of Economic Research and a member of the Board of Advisers, Faculty of Business & Economics, University of Malaya. He holds memberships with the Institute of Corporate Directors of Malaysia, the Malaysian Institute of Corporate Governance, and the Singapore Institute of Directors. He frequently speaks at local and international events on tax policy,
